3D printing

3D printing processing and pickups will not be available from December 21st through January 1st. We will resume printing and processing on January 2nd. If you submitted a request before December 21st and have not received a pick up notice, your request may be delayed due to Winter Break closure.

What equipment and materials do you use?

We have a variety of 3D Printers across our libraries.


The  is available at Weaver Science Engineering Library- Room 200S & UA Health Sciences Library. This 3D printer is an innovative dual extrusion machine with a large build area (215 x 215 x 300 mm), allows you to create high resolution & production quality dual extrusion parts. Filaments available for this printer include: ABS, PLA, TPU (Flexy), PolyCarbonate and Wood. Water soluble supports are available upon request.

For your large format printing needs, the Library has a  with a maximum build volume of 300mm x 300mm x 300mm. The M300 prints best using the following speciality filaments: GLASS, HIPS, and PETG. While the M300 can print objects using the ABS filament types, the objects fail at a higher rate.

007真人网址For higher resolution & finely detailed objects, we have a 3D printer available that uses to build 3D objects. The  has a maximum build volume of 145 × 145 × 175 mm and uses liquid resin as the material for 3D printed objects. are available. Colors are limited. 

Who can use this service?

007真人网址Priority is for UA students, faculty, and staff. Non UA-affiliates may submit requests to the Main Library, but they may be backlogged during peak use during the semester.

UA affiliates and Banner employees may submit requests to the Health Sciences Library (specify this as your pickup location when submitting your 3D printing request).

Set Up Fees

A $2.00 set up fee will be applied to any job printed with specialty filament or resin.

For those objects printed with regular filament, a $2.00 set up fee may be added to your price quote. This determination is based on: the object's complexity, its build process, and the amount of staff attention needed to complete the job. You will always be contacted with a price quote for any jobs where this set up fee is added.

Please also note that a set up fee will apply to each file that must be created in order to print your objects. If your request contains multiple objects, we will combine as many objects onto the same build plate while still maintaining print integrity.

What is the turnaround time?

Printing times vary based on size, complexity, and any backlog. Once you submit your request, we will contact you within two business days with an approximate turnaround time. To best accommodate large orders, please contact us 4-6 weeks prior to your "need by" date at 3D@lib.arizona.edu. For instructors, please contact us at the beginning of the semester so we can coordinate the best time for
your class to submit their projects.

You can work on your job in real-time by visiting the iSpace in Science Engineering Library. A staff member will help you set up your file and print the job while you wait for it to print. Please note, we can only accommodate 3D print jobs requested during an in-person iSpace visit that will take less than 2 hours to complete.
